Minsk: An Unexpected Influence (Mid-1960s)
My journey then led me to an unexpected destination - Minsk, Belarus. In this lesser-known fashion hub, I encountered a unique blend of Soviet pragmatism and European sensibility. The stark contrast between the East and the West fascinated me.
Minsk taught me about resourcefulness and the ability to create beauty from limited resources. I began to experiment with textiles, repurposing materials to craft one-of-a-kind pieces. This phase of my journey marked a departure from convention and a bold step into avant-garde fashion.
